190 years ago today, 15th September, 1830, the Liverpool-Manchester Railway opened. What an amazing change that made to transport throughout the world.

Sadly, two longstanding committee members have died recently. Angela Wilkinson, who served for many years
and was active in other Rainhill organisations, died after a long illness.
Keith Ashall was involved with the Society at its outset and more recently was our Treasurer.
He too brought experience of business and other activities to the work of the Society.

Before the lock-down, Arthur Jennion gave a very interesting presentation at the February meeting on his philatelic collection. He explained how the early railways were used to develop the postal system.
